St. Ronans College, Lurgan (£58m)

BREEAM New Construction

Set within an approximately 36-acre site, the new purpose-built St Ronan’s College was designed to provide a modern education campus while honouring the heritage of the area by refurbishing and repurposing an existing chapel to serve as chapel & performance space.

The expansive development, spanning to 3 storeys at its highest, provided more than 20,000m2 of useable space from internal landscaped courtyards to educational and pastoral spaces. Designed to cater for 1,750 students, the campus includes classrooms for specialist and core subjects, with top spec. science, ICT, art, drama, music and technology departments.

Designed with sustainable values at heart., the campus incorporated solar PV panels and rainwater harvesting without compromising on visual impact by utilising a mix of render and buff brick walls alongside visually striking courtyard paving. Achieving BREEAM ‘Excellent’, the development also included external sports provisions in the form of both grass & synthetic GAA and Football pitches, tennis courts, and floodlit pitches while actively promoting car-alternative methods of transport with the inclusion of ample cycle parking.
